Do Gutters Increase the Value of Your Home?

do gutters increase the value of your home

As a seamless gutter company, we’re obviously a bit biased when we say that gutters are an essential part of any home, but we’re honest too. Unlike a kitchen remodel where you can expect your return on investment to be greater than 50% and improve the value of your home, having seamless gutters installed will not do the same. Gutters will not directly increase the value of your home.

In other words, spending $1100 on seamless gutters isn’t going to increase the value of your home by $1100, or by any amount for that matter.

Think of gutters like tires on a car. They are just expected to be there and to be working properly. Do tires increase the value of your car? Of course not, but if you have a missing tire or if the tires barely have any tread, you risk damage to your car, and having missing tires or bad tires will make it harder to sell your car.

Just as good tires protect your car and make it easier to sell your car, gutters do the same thing for your home. Gutters protect your home and make it easier to sell when it comes time to put your home on the market.

Our customers don’t look at gutters like a kitchen remodel where they expect them to directly increase the value of their home. Instead, they appreciate the many benefits that seamless gutters provide that may indirectly increase the value of their home.

Gutters can provide the following benefits:

  • Protecting your home from water damage. Water damage can lead to foundation cracks, mold growth, and structural problems.
  • Improving your home’s curb appeal. A properly installed and well-maintained gutter system can make your home look more attractive and inviting (not just for your own enjoyment but also for potential home buyers).
  • Extending the life of your roof. Gutters help to direct water away from your roof, which can help to prevent premature wear and tear.
  • Improving drainage around your home. Gutters and downspouts can help to direct water away from your foundation and landscaping, which can help to prevent erosion and flooding.

Seamless gutters protect your home and improve your curb appeal, which can indirectly increase the value of your home, all things being equal. If one house has never had gutters and as a result has water damage and doesn’t have the greatest curb appeal, and you compare it to a similar size house in the same neighborhood that has had gutters installed since it was built (and as a result has no water damage and the curb appeal is much nicer), the house with gutters will likely be more valuable.

Most of the homes we do free estimates for in Spring Hill, FL and the surrounding communities can benefit from gutters regardless of what they do or don’t do to the value of your home.

If you’re reading this, your home can probably benefit from seamless gutters, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised how little they cost relative to the protection they provide to your home! See for yourself. Get a quote instantly or call or text us at (352) 777-6553 for a free estimate.
